The Smile Pavilion
About the project

DW Clinic is a state-of-the-art smile design campus in Charleston, envisioned as more than just a dental clinic; but a future-proof, nature-integrated healthcare experience. Designed from the ground up, the concept introduces a spatial system we call the Smile Pavilion: a set of interconnected volumes that soften scale and dissolve the boundary between architecture and landscape.

The Smile Pavilion
The solution

To avoid a monolithic structure and better connect with its natural surroundings, the clinic was divided into multiple building blocks, each with a distinct yet connected function. From consultation and smile planning to an integrated dental lab and comprehensive treatment rooms, the journey unfolds across three different yet fluidly connected experiences.

The Smile Pavilion
Results

One of the key challenges was the extreme Southern climate, which deeply influenced our material palette and passive design approach. The architectural language is signature Amud, organic, minimal, and future-facing, yet always grounded in emotion and human flow. This project reflects our vision for the next era of healthcare architecture: one that is immersive, humane, and seamlessly embedded into its environment.
